I appreciated the 4 points that were stressed in regards to what you want your students to walk away with after the first meeting. Those will help me greatly in my own teaching. Many of my professors did not make it obvious that they cared about our learning and it affected how we learned within the class.

Caring for students has to be the number one reason why instructors are in the profession. If we keep that in mind many of the other parts of teaching will fall into place.

I agree, the first day can be stressful for everybody. As teachers or instructors, the 4 points can help us lead our class in a productive and comfortable way for the students and ourselves. The learning experience of the students the first day will set the tone for the whole course.
