Day 1

On the first day you have to set the tone for the rest of that rotation. Show confidence and strenght, be respectful, and show that you are approachable.Being prepared, starting on time and just being relaxed helps the class settle into their enviroment. Then let yourself go and teach your passion. When they see how passionate you are they will feel more comfortable that you are the one to teach them.

I agree, the students can easily sense your passionate about teaching the subject and will then relax and be more attentive and will get more from the course. then you can challenge them.

The first inpreshion is so inportent to a student. He or she will see you for what they see the first time. Just like a job interview. That first impreshion is a big one. Make sure you are ready and show you are excited to be there teaching. This will go along way with new students and set the tone for the class.

I agree as well. Students can "read" an instructor. If you are at all uncomfortable with what you are teaching, the students pick up on that right away. It's all about creating that relaxed atmosphere and being comfortable and passionate about the information that you are giving them.

Hi Roland,
Well said. We as instructors have to try and get settled in get and the students focused on what is going to happen over the next few weeks.

That first day if you are not confident all you have to do is look around the room and see the faces you will see it! Rolling of the eyes.
That is why it is so important to have a lead instructor someone you can look to reinforce what you are doing is correct.
This is why I feel I made the correct decision to work here because the fellow instructors help you when you ask for help or maybe even when you don't think you need it.
I like to ask everyone staff and students alike "How are you today?" Keep the positive and Return with "I am Great". keep smiling.
It really is contagious.

Hi Kenneth,
Thank you for the words of encouragement for new teachers. If we can keep the confidence of the teachers up they will stay in the classroom and have very rewarding careers as professional educators.

I agree, the first day sets the tone for the whole course.

I agree you haveto set the tone so the students know what they are going to learn.

I beleave that you should be on time everyday and on the first day you set your rules for the class so students know what is expected of them ans if a rule is broken they should know what is going to be the end result.

Hi Bruce,
You have to set the confines of where and how the class will be run from the very beginning of the course. Also, by letting them know what the consequences of not following through or not completing the required work you will be on solid ground should a problem come up.
