Learning Disabilites

The first week in class I always have some type of class participation which involves each student having to do a little reading in class, and then explain what they have read, this helps me get an ideal of weather the student can read and comprehend, or if they can read but not comprehend what they read.

I have never considered this technique as a way to determine if the student has a learning disability that involves reading and comprehension

I think that determining whether a student has some sort of disability or difficulty learning can take a while. There are different little areas that will provide "snapshots" into their "processing" that will give us hints as to whether they're going to need extra attention.
