training

i like the training part of this session it allows you to test on the things that was taught

Yes, I agree that training allows the hands on approach to learning.

I think training is a great teaching method, especially when a student gets to see all training points put together to become a whole and they do it well. It gives them a sense of accomplishment.

A saying that I have heard in my institution is that training is for certainty and education is for uncertainty. I believe this to be true based upon my military career. When I went through my initial training years ago we were trained in how to react to various situations. As I progressed in experience and rank, that training gave way to education in which I was taught how to think rather than what to think. This prepared me for an increasingly unpredictable world in which we have to operate.

Hugh,
I like this way of thinking and approaching the learning process. It is a scaffold approach that continues to build for the person as he or she acquires additional knowledge and experience.
