starting the new class can always be a challenge if the class setting is fun the instructor honest and sincere. show the student you care but have class control don't be a tyrant but be strict you can always loosen up but being their friend right off the bat is usually a mistake
Starting a new class is definetly challenging! I agree. You want to be their coach, as well as their mentor. A good instructor knows where to draw that line between friend and student. Be available to their needs in class. Be courteous out of class.
Agree. It is important to establish rapport right at the outset.
I am the Chef, The students are my cooks. The best part of the relationship is these cooks want to learn. The Rapport is almost intrinsic. The envoronment creates a win win scenario. I believe that because I love what I am doing it translates to an environment that the students can sense and the rapport between us is easy.
Hi Ward,
What a great attitude you have about what you are doing. This kind of excitement really rubs off on students. They catch and spread it as they are learning the skills needed to be successful in culinary arts. Keep up the good work!
