motivation through experience

I try to impart to the student what it was like for me when I was just starting out in my field. It creates empathy, security and identification on the part of the learner

I have found the more you can relate what you are learning to what their clinical experience will be, improves the students motivation the best.

Jason,
Connecting the dots between course content and application makes the course come alive, not to mention the excitement that students can get about what they are learning. Good point.

Ruth Whitaker,
I agree. The students are motivated the most when they realize how they will directly be using the information learned in the clinical setting.

I let the student know some of the experiences I have had in the field and showed them how to let my experiences lead them to a short cut with out all the trial and errors.
