True, and do whats needed to keep them involved in their learning. Enthusiasm is contagious, getting them excited about where this education can lead them always seems to help their determination, which of course aids in retention
This is true, but be honest about the expectations of the industry or carrer path and the people who are involved in them. You do not want to have the students looking forward with rose colored glasses into a volcano

You got it with the last words. "Be honest, be true." The students need to be given a realistic picture of the career field they are preparing to enter. To do anything less is unfair to the students and our respective fields.
