Student Retention
As a full time faculty member, I try to make myself available to students as much as possible to help them with issues that may effect their retention both inside and outside the classroom. This, to me, is very important in learning issues before they become too big to fix.
At my job we always tell the students that they need to communicate with us. We can't help them if they don't inform us of what is going on. Communication is a big role in their success. We also offer them a program where they can talk with someone who can assist them even further if we can't
Nanette,
So important and critical to student growth and success. We need to keep the lines of communication open throughout the duration of our courses.

It is always so rewarding once a student makes an effort to become involved in the communication process! I have seen many students who are initially hesitant, but then realize that we are really here to help.
Kelly,
This is such a great thing to observe. These students slowly start to emerge and you see dramatic growth on their part as they contribute to the class discussions realize they have knowledge that others value.

I think to help with student retention, students need to know that we truly care about them. I let my students know that I'm available for them and have an open door policy.
Rita,
So important for student success. I compliment you for your efforts in showing the students you value them and their efforts.
