iPhone app for a to do list
I found an app for the iPhone (and probably Android) that turns your to do list into a game. It is called EpicWin. Your to do list becomes Quests, which give you experience. If you do enough, you level up. They also increase your attributes, such as Strength, Intelligence, etc, depending on what you labeled the task as. Recurring tasks remind you, such as paying bills.
If you are a video gamer such as myself, and you always have a smart phone on you, an app such as this could be very beneficial to you. I have increased my productivity dramatically, since my main problem has historically been forgetting to do important things.
I have an IPhone and love it. It truly is always with me except when I sleep, and then it is only 5 feet away. I am not much of a gamer unless it has to do with cars but using EpicWin could put more fun into the work we do. More fun is a stress relief in itself. Thanks for the suggestion.
David, Excellent to hear. Sounds like you are making good use of technology and enjoying it too. Yes, do try incorporating gaming into your work if you have the expertise. A little engagement can go a long way in sustaining interest.

Chris, What a wonderful recommendation. Thanks so much for sharing. It's great when you can find a way to make routine tasks engaging and fun. Online gamers will especially appreciate the EpicWin format but I think it could help a lot of other people too. What a great and motivating time management tool.

EpicWin sounds wonderful. I will place it on my to-do list to download. I just got an iPhone for Christmas. Thank you for the suggestion.
Ditto to that. iPhone Aps are plenty in "To Do" lists. I do recommend an analog back-up.
I have recently started using my iphone to create my To Do List...I will denfinitely check out this app. Thanks for the tip.
To think we teach our students not to use their phones while in class, That it is rude to the instructor, I see where the students get it from, their instructors can't stay off their phones either
Sharon, Interesting perspective. Yes, a lot of what our students do is simply modeled after others who they observe. Practicing what you preach is important in driving positive behavioral outcomes.

I have an android and I use the Google calendar and stick notes app. Writing all to do's in one place definitely reduces stress and unclutters my mind. Does anyone have an idea of how to link these two apps or to use the Google calendar more efficiently so it can keep a running list of tasks which I can set priorities for ?
excellent! I am using the Cozi family calendar right now...maybe will try this out too
It took me a while to jump on the Iphone technology bandwagon, but honestly now that I'm on I don't want to get off it really does help me keep things on track in my life. This App sounds like fun I'm not a gamer but I know my "to-do" list sometimes feels overwhelming so this may help reduce the stress associated with it by making it feel more like a game with the reward of going to another level eachtime you accomplish a task maybe paying my bills might be a bit more fun next time!
I love my iPhone and I use the notes app for my daily to-do-list each day. If I remember something I need to do while I am in bed, or do not have pen/pencil readily available, I quickly put the information on my iPhone. Simple and easy and in fact handy. I do not use my iphone in class. However, if a question is asked and no one knows the answer, we check it on our smart phones, and then out of sight. Students know the rules for my class.
Wow Chris!! This is something I will definitely need to check out. I just became an avid user of the calender on my phone! Im not a big gamer but willing to try this at least once! Any method to reduce my hair pulling moments are worth trying!
I use the "notes" program on my iPhone to list out tasks, and then delete them as they're accomplished. For my daily tasks, I use my outlook calendar as a reminder list. The Siri function is a quick way to set reminders, such as this:
I need to remember to do something as soon as I get to work. I'll ask siri to remind me to do whatever it is when I get to work. I have siri programmed to know where (GPS) work is, and when I get there, as I get out of my car, it reminds me. It has saved me more times than I can count.
Tracey, Wow, it sounds like you are leveraging quite a bit of technology to stay effective and efficient. That's wonderful to hear. Digital task lists and tools like them can significantly speed the organization process.
