Rita, Excellent! Sounds like you have developed an official process and one that is working well for you. Keep it up!

I use a scantron for quizzes and tests and we review the homework in class. The module just reinforced my practice.
Hi Nick , I do the same as you have just mentioned. I just started incorporating matching and fill in the gap in my test and exams, I see a lot of students struggling with spellings after I started this testing method.
I do agree with using a testing model with use of a scantron. Because the students will always want possible bonus questions -I will incorporate essay questions there.
The one concept of this module that stood out for me applies to my writing assignments. I like the idea of checking off key words and phrases before reading the entire essay. With a large group especially, this would be both a time saver for me and would ensure a fairer method of grading for the students
I seldom spend much time on grading tests other than recording the scores. Because our program is intensively hands-on, we have small class sizes. That affords me the luxury of grading the tests in front of the students as they are completed. They really appreciate the instant feedback, and we discuss any questions that were missed as a class as soon as everyone has complete their exam. This allows me to instantly gauge any weak spots in my lecture or lab and address them in the same class meeting.
Preparing PowerPoint presentation, and using Quiz makers to create my quizzes and grade them, also ask the textbook publisher for any resources available with the textbook before preparing them.
Essay questions help to define understanding critical thinking... what are some ways critical thinking skills are evaluated if the essay questions are not included?
I love class outline because it makes it more streamline and make the day go by easer
I actually LOVE essay questions / exams; however as I am striving to do my dissertation, I only have one me. With my physical time limited, I give a mostly objective test with still 3-5 subjective questions. This is imperative to guiding students to become good writers and I am a firm believer in helping my students excel, not just memorize!!!! Hence, I will continue to maintain the format I have been using for testing. Good material, thanks.
Janet, That sounds like the right approach. It's important to balance grading rigor with grading efficiency. Sometimes we really do need those essay questions. Other times we are better off with faster grading because this leaves us with more time to meet student needs.

Holly, It sounds like you found a way to both streamline your grading while maintaining rigor in testing and assessment. That's the perfect balance.

Gwendolyn, Yes you should. Scantrons are a wonderful time saver. They take a little time investment to implement up front, but they pay off big in the end.

Brandon, Yes, the conversion process is going to take some time. The good news is that with a little investment up front, you'll likely save a great amount of time in the future.

Karina, I am glad you have found a productive takeaway to try from this lesson and I hope it works well for you!

I would definitely avoid any assay tests format from now on. I would do more test that could be grade quickly from the scans tron.
I grade test the old fashioned way. I have been thinking about going to the scantron. I see other teachers getting their test grades done in seconds. I guess I will try that!
After view in this module, I will avoid essay question unless they are the most appropriate test format for my students and streamline my quizzes and exams to maximize my time in grading them so they can be returned to the students quickly and we can all review the topic.
Jayson, Great to hear it! Yes, scantrons are a fantastic time saver. They help you focus on other things like lecture prep and office hours, so they have benefits for students too.

I use the scantron process for grading my quizzes and tests. It makes the process less overwhelming and easier to give results to the students.
