Computerized Gradebook

I have been teaching for over 10 years and always figured out my grades using a calculator! A few years ago, someone shared ideas with me about a software program they use that was very user friendly. What a difference in time savings! I would be lost without it now. If you do not yet use a computer program of some kind to manage your grades/classes, start to look for one. You will be glad you did!

This is the best thing since chocolate milk. I learned how to use gradekeeper and have been a happy camper ever since.

I too used to preprae grades at the end of the term by hand. About a year or so ago my scoold subscribed to gradekeeper and initially I resisted as I was afraid that I was not computer literate enough to trust the system. Two terms went by before I finally broke down and started using it. What a revelation! It is the best thing at the ent of the term to just plug in a number for the final exam and have it all done. I certainly wouldn't do without it now!!!

Old habits die hard but I'm glad you finally adopted the new system Josette. While it probably took a mental ramp up and initial investment, it sounds like it was well worth it.

We have been using an electronic gradebook for a while and it saves a lot of time. Enter the grade from the test, and the totals and current grade is right there. It lets us know where a student stands in a matter of seconds.

Our school recently went to this method too and I love it!

We've recently switched to an on-line grade book managed via our student portal. It is a great benefit in that our students can look up their grades whenever they wish to see an update, and the gradebook also allows me to put comments in along with numeric grades. This has eliminated a lot of the "why did I get this score?" type questions and has made managing a large class much easier.

After reading this module, I think that I may switch to a computerized gradebook. I have been teaching for 11 years, and I have become so great with a calculator and grading percentages, but it's time to move into the 20th century. I'm going to try teacherease.com, but if someone has a better one, or a different idea, let me know. I am open to suggestions. Thanks Mary

It is very true but the problem that I am facing is that since we started using this system students are not honest with themselves. Instead of working harder to rise their grade, they become more argumentative and blame us for having a bad grade. And in the end, we end-up with dab reviews from the students. I think we should just comment their work, what’s should be done and how it should be corrected and keep the grades towards the end of the semester
