Causes of stress?

I work in a results oriented sales postision. When working with my potential clients, sometimes I find myself with expectations of moving through the sales process on my time schedule. This is a sure fire way to set yourself up for stress in the workplace. Many times the client has many other projects and outside environmental circumstances that I have no idea about and this will cause delay, but not rejection to my implementing my technology I represent. I am always setting myself up for a stressful day when I want things done on my time.

Yes, we must set reasonable expectations for ourselves and others - particularly if we work in larger teams to get the job done! Otherwise, life can be extra stressful.

One expectation at work that causes me stress is the assumption that I should be available to work extra (teach in the evening program after I have already worked a full day) whenever the need arises. Sometimes it is hard to say no. but I usually look eagerly forward to going home when my work day is over.

I find being goal oriented has created high levels of stress in my life. Taking time to stop and enjoy the moment is a must for me. This can lead to enjoying the events going on around me and to opening myself up to the complete experience.

I totally agree. I think it is a great thing to just stop and enjoy the moment and try not to get too caught up in stressful situations. Life is too short and we must live each day to the fullest, prioritizing what truly is important.

What about when what is "reasonable" to us is insufficiant for others? That in itself is stressful on top of what we are expected to do. I sometimes find myself stressing about completing tasks and make the mistake of starting multiple tasks.
