Meditation is a way to let go

I have been privileged to adopt a consistent
routine of quiet reflection usually first thing
in the morning. This helps to relax you and set
your frame of reference in a positive tone for
the rest of the day. The process of meditation
will help the individual stay focused on what is
essential in their health and their mind.
The focus is on the individual. We must realize
we cannot control the the thoughts or actions of
others. Instead we should strive to deal with
stresses and conflicts the best we can without
changing others behaviors. The old addage
'kill 'em with kindness' has merit even today.

Thanks for bringing up meditation techniques Ken. Yes, they can be quite powerful for those who have the time and environment to enjoy them.

I have a similar technique. I guess it can be a form of meditation, at least for me. I enjoy woodworking. It is so far from the subject matter I teach and the day job I have that it gets me totally away from the stress of everyday life. It is hard to find the time but when I do I find I go back to my other responsibilities refreshed and ready to tackle the world.

I agree. Firstly, identify who I am in the situation, which allows me time to focus on a probable resolution. Hopefully my actions will have a positive influence on each student.

It's nice to hear that you first take the time to assess the situation and your role. A little strategy in advance can make a big difference in the long term.

Quiet time for me is a way of letting go of things that hit that raw nerve during the day. Just lying in my bed and surfing the web is another way for me to relax. It is my time.
