I exercise regularly and mostly eat a well balanced diet. But I still get stressed because I fell my superiors do not communicate well with the instructors. I can't change that so I will try to breath deeply and realize that I am not them and focus on my job.

Marianne, That sounds like a good coping strategy to me. When we get outside and break from our routine, particularly with fresh air, we are often able to clear our minds.

Irina, It sounds like you have a wonderful routine in place! You are right, exercise can help us mind, body and soul. I am curious to hear more about the specific exercises that work well for you.

Louis, Our lunch breaks are often great outlets. If you have a nice path near work and some good weather, lunch can be perfect for a walk. If you don't, you might consider walking the halls with a friend.

I will walk more through out the day or during lunch.

When confronted with stressors that I am unable to eliminate, I try to gain perspective by taking a few deep breaths, wait a moment and then proceed. Usually taking a walk around the block on a break helps to clear my mind while getting some exercise and getting some fresh air!

For me physical activity plays a key role in reducing and preventing the effects of stress. I exercese for at least 30 minutes three-five times per week. Nothing beats aerobic exercise for releasing stress and tension.

I am working on adding more exercise to my life and eating better.

I have always enjoyed chatting out my stressors with friends. I am not a huge fan of exercise but I may try this also to help naturally alleviate stress.

I get stressed a little when I hear I'll be watched as I instruct to do the yearly 'watch' of teachers to make sure they are doing well. I know I am, it just a added stressor. I try not to think about them coming in because I know I'm already a great teacher, and do my 'thing'.

Joseph, You are right. There are so many different outlets to explore. The right outlet for us depends on our own interests and can sometimes take time to find.

I try to find my "zen" place, and mentally and physically relax a few times a day.

Coping with stress should be a healthy decision. You should stay away fromt hings that may cause you to feel more anxious or depressed. Do things that will cause your body to feel good like exercising, eating the right food, find a hobby that makes you laugh and enjoy the day more....

Nicholas, It sounds like you have a healthy approach in place. Great to hear. Yes, there are some stressors that we really do have to let go of because we have zero control over them.

I learn to cope with stress by exercising and talking to people about different topics. There are some stressors that I have no control over but I adjust well to the minor ones.

I find that in the immediate future, walking away for a short time allows me to refocus and attack problems more effectively. Breathing exercises are also effective when I cannot take the time to walk away briefly. Long term, exercise works well. Making the time and getting the energy initially however can prove to be a challenge, but once I get going, it is very effective.

I exercise to relieve my stress and plan to continue with that coping mechanism.

Carrie, It sounds like you have found a productive and healthy coping mechanism to count on for the most stressful days. I like how one coping mechanism, breathing exercises, leads to another, sleep! Both have tremendous benefits.

Jessalyn, That sounds like a great plan. Sometimes easier said than done however. I might recommend focusing on these two things first thing each morning. You can start with just weekdays. That might be a nice way to make sure tasks are accomplished.

Yvette, That sounds very relaxing to me. Note that different kinds of music work well for different kinds of people. Classical can be peaceful or stressful depending on the composer.
