Setting the Stage for Student Success
As an instructor, I believe it is best to provide students with meaningful material that would aid in their success in the classroom as well as in their future career goals. Students need to know that the information that is being received is the information they will need when they apply the knowledge they learned.
I agree, and would like to add that showing them how it applies is key to keeping the interest alive. It's easy to print out items, it is alot harder to show direct application of those critical skills learned out in the real world.
Hi James,
I agree! We need to give our students meaningful assignments as they apply to the real world.

I agree, I have worked with students in class and have worked to get them set on their externships. It is important to help them to see, from the beginning, how all of their classes will help them to succeed on externship, then will carry them to employment.
I find it very rewarding when students who have completed all of their classes and now are on externship, or employed, call me to let me know I was right about some particular data pertaining to the work world. Especially when they initially did not see the significance of the information.
