Hi Dee,
You're right, those nursing students must know their information. It is awful when any student cheats. If the student is caught, the student should be remprimanded to the fullest extent.
Patricia
That is a great way to handle the cheating on written exams. I have always had private conversations with the students, but the public forum is far more powerful, both for the cheater nad for the other students in the class.
Hi Christine,
Does you institution have an honor code policy, and if so what is it? If you don't have one, and you had to write one, what would you like it to say?
Patricia

I agree with you that the Student should repeat the course but if possible with another Insructor for several reasons. If this Student comes back to me I may spent too much time on him /her which takes that time away from others.
The Student may become aware of the fact that cheating is a waste of time and prepare better for the test.
Hi Klaus,
Having the student repeat the course with another instructor is not a bad idea at all. There are several good reasons as you have stated.
Patricia
We all cannot catch cheaters all the time. But cheating when caught, will earn a "O" with possible suspension or withdrawal from school. I believe that cheating will catch up to the student in the long run whether you catch it now or not.
Hi Laquita,
In the long run the student will definitely suffer from cheating. The student is only hurting himself or herself.
Patricia
Our campus has a pretty strict policy on cheating, in my experenice proof is always the hardest to prove. It will always be your word against thiers. They will almost always atack your teaching style and in some case's your charector. Alway give the benifit of the doubt and keep to your guns.
PUNISH! PUNISH! Students are a chair apart and I definitely walk around when testing.
