Keeping track of errors

I find that it is very helpful to list the even the most simple mistake as a reminder as well as listing some positive impact moments. It goes both ways.

Hello Jeffrey,
It is important to write down all mistakes, no matter how small or big. It is amazing to see your growth after reviewing the list a year later.

Many of my students have difficulty with writing and/or the structure of paper. I will show them on the board how a paper should begin, the usage of an outline, the length of a paragraph and sentence. I take nothing for granted. Many times I will say "you may have forgotten," that seems to take the edge off, and I also tell them their future papers and classes will benefit from such a listening and writing process.

Hi Richard,
It saddens me to see the skill level of our students writing ability. You have handled this weakness beautifully. You did not hurt any feelings, I am sure!

I applaud this notion. Everyone can make mistakes...even teachers! By wiritng them down and then addressing them, we have created a process that not only develops us professionally but I would argue personally as well.

Hi Kyle,
Yes, this can be a tactic that can be used both personally as well as professionally.

I used to have margin notes in my instructor guide to help me remember to not make a mistake again and also to alert me to a particular area of an objective that I know is troublesome to the students.
