What are some holiday activities you work into the class?

I am always looking for ways to incorporate holidays that fall during the class into the class. If I am teaching a cake decorating class we might use that holiday for the theme for the classes’ sutured cakes. I also think it fun and have marked my calendar whenever I find a fun food holiday “national pancake day†and will make sourdough pancakes with the starter we started as a class pet. I think it is a fun way to get students excited about class. And it starts a buzz on campus that our class got pancakes during lecture.
I also use holiday ideas in my Cake Decorating class!! It's so much fun for the students to be able to make Valentines cakes.....or Michael Myers sculptured cake!!
In plated desserts, we gear more towards holiday inspired flavors.
