Rubrics
Use rubrics to promote scorer reliability as you grade students' responses. Share this rubric with students so that they understand the requirements for what you would consider to be a satisfactory answer, and how points will be distributed. I truly believe in rubrics.

Yes, I totally agree with the needs of posting the assignments rubric. It is also important to detailed that so students will got more info about what they need to research and what the instructor is looking for.
Hani,
Rubrics help both the student and the instructor. They clearly describe how work is evaluated so there is no confusion on the grade earned.

I firmly believe in the importance of devising rubrics for each assignment as well as specific expectations for writing. These rubrics should be used when an instructor grades each assignment so the student will know where they gained and lost points and how they could improve in the future.

Sarah,
I agree that rubrics are invaluable in instruction, maybe even more so in online environments. Rubrics provide the detailed feedback on their work that they might have been able to get in a personal conference in a traditional class. Rubrics hold the students and faculty accountable for the assessment and grade. Rubrics allow for clear feedback with no bias if designed correctly. Do you believe in giving the students the rubric BEFORE they complete the assignment?
