Bona fide high school diploma
How do we go about verifying these diplomas from another country?
That's a really good question. I don't really know whether there is a way to verify a diploma from a foreign school. But I do know that some institutions require from the prospective student to provide not only the diploma but also a transcript of their grades that must be sent to them directly from the foreign schools in a closed envelope. Of course, the cases I mentioned are degree granting institutions. In the case of smaller schools, may be a TABE test is in order.
TABE test okay so how do I go about getting this
TABE test? In case I to administer this test to a prospective applicant.
You can do a little search on the internet and should find where it is administered close to you. For what I know, you can take the TABE test in any community college or a vocational school in the public system.
James,
You will need to use the credentialing service in order to evaluate the transcript. Contact the CIE office for a list of credible credentialing agencies.

Francisco,
A transcript credentialing service provides that information for you. The CIE office can provide you a list of credentialing agencies that you may opt to use. Usually the cost transcript evaluation is paid for by the student.

In our school when a students come with a foreign diploma, we required them to have it evaluate and translated if necessary by one of the company listed from NACES.ORG
Arlin,
The commission requires that any foreign transcript be evaluated by a recognized credentialing service.

In my past schools our records coordinator would take a copy for the file but would contact the institute in which student has graduated and have documents sent to the Registrar or Records coordinator. Student may also request from his or her country documentation to submit. These documents need to be Translated.

Anessa,
Each School has a little bit different process. It is important that we understand what our particular process is and who is responsible for what aspect.
