Qualified Students

With the increased pressure on graduation and placement rates, has your institution made any modifications to its program admission requirements or admissions interviews to ensure students are qualified to succeed?

Understanding how many different types of programs and courses offered throughout the state can sometimes make it harder of an invividual to make the right choice of program or even the right college to go to. It is very important to me as it is to our students to make the right choice in order to start finish and graduate. I am pleased to see our college take the stand to really make sure this is the right college and the right time for them to start on a new career.

Yes our institution has made siginificant changes in the programs and in the ease of use by the students.

By requiring that each student complete an Orientation course we have been able to eliminate drops of students that are not equipped to be successful in online schooling.

My institution, in regards to admission requirements, I have stressed more interest in 'actively listening' to students needs and what they hope to accomplish with their additional education.

At our institution, it is required that students complete the Online Student Preparation. This is a mandatory tutorial that show students how to log into their classes, post discussions, take quizzes, and etc. By requiring students to complete this tutorial, it sets the expectation as to what the students need to be able to do in order to be successful at this school. If they are not successful in completing the OSP, then they will probably not be successful in completing one of our degrees.

We have a requirement of HS diploma or GED. We verify that it is from an accredited college.

I think that our schools arms all of our students with the information under graduate information disclosure and allows them access to carrer services department after one successful quarter.

One major modification is the addition of a mandatory testing procedure for each student to become comfortable/familiar with our class structure online. The online student preparation prepares the student for a class structured environment within the online program, generating more confidence for the student to succeed right off the bat.

Yes by going over the Enrollment Agreement with the student in detail to ensure that the student fully understands their part.

Each student has been assigned an Online Student Preparation class. These classes must be completed in their entirety to ensure that the student understands the what expections are required of the student to ensure a higher success rate in an Online environment. If they don't complete the class, then they are not qualified to access their real classes.

Many students are interested in a job in their field of study. Some are even willing to relocated; however my school has a career service department that has been set in place to assist the student with more accurate information with job placement, mock interviews and resume assistance.

My institution, in regards to admission requirements, has adopted a conviction motto internally, "changing a students life one by one." We ask probing questions of students needs and what they hope to accomplish with their additional education. This modification puts the students interest first which allows for continued success.

Yes, after new developments and revisions to our program offerings, our institution has implemented a new questionaire which allows for student feedback detailing the reason why they want to pursue our newer degree programs.

We have a career services office that assists students with this information. Every student that I interview, I make sure I take them to their office so they receive the correct and up to date information on their specific program.

I have noticed that with the mandatory Online Student Preparation our students seem more informed in starting and staying in class. I have noticed this even more with my late applicants.

Our admissions qualifications are very thorough, and have many layers.
