Professional Development
Taking professional development courses are often time consuming and not helpful. Why is lecture ED101 different?
I don't think that the professional development course incorporated in a student's course of study is time consuming or that it is not of help to the student. Professional development focuses on the soft skills every student/ employee/ person is to possess to be able to succeed in their work environment. Some students need to hear and be taught about acceptable behaviors and attitudes, morality, and the characteristics valued and rewarded on the job. Work is important but students/ prospective employees need to know how to communicate and be around customers, clients, patients, or their colleages.
The Professional Development course only contributes to the success of the student guiding them toward professionalism, and becoming valued employees contributing to the good of socciety.

I agree that professional development courses are often a waste of time. In my former job, the faculty was required to take them, and also attend workshops, but most of it wasn't relevant to teaching. I like the Max Knowledge courses, although, isnce my degree is in English Ed, I learned most of this already in grad school.
