Developing a new FAO...
What would any of you recommend to focus on first when establishing a new FAO at a new school? Would love to hear your ideas listed from Very important to Least important.

I think one of the most important task is the development of your structure - Standard Operating Procedures Internal, Financial Aid Policy and Procedure Manual, standard job descriptions, outlined procedures and workflow for prospective students through graduates/withdrawn students and workflow between Financial Aid Office and other departments (i.e. Academics, Registrar, Business Office, etc.).

I would have the new FAO sit in on my appointments so they can get a since of the language used to communicate FA to new students. This will also help them get used to the paperwork needed to complete FA and the order of the appointment.
