Program Review

I firmly believe that if you meet regulation requirements then a program review is able to be avoided. However, there are times when accrediting bodies come to inspect the school and those cannot be avoided. I think as in most things, by being prepared then there is nothing to fear. Inspections and audits can come and go if one is prepared and not have a problem.

Lauren, Department of Education Program Reviews can be nerve racking but they can also be very helpful. In most cases the Department is really there to help the schools. They want you to do a good job of servicing the students just as you do. As long as you stay on top of things you have nothing to worry about.

David McGuffee

My institution just went through a program review as we transitioned to a not-for-profit school. It was a very long week but we were able to find out things we have been right and things that should be fixed going forward, but overall, the review went well and that was very rewarding!

Brittany,

Great attitude. Whenever I am faced with a Program Review or audit I try to learn and strengthen areas. This type of activity can be a great method for growth. A program review can be an opportunity to work with knowledgeable FA Professionals and glean information to improve the overall process of FSA administration.

Chyrl Ayers

I agree. You always want to be one step ahead in being prepared for any potential audits or regulatory amendments.

Chrystie,

Best method is to be prepared and ensure your files are organized. I always encourage everyone to be prepared and know what to expect.

I understand that if you always meet all regulations and requirements of a program review. There should be no problem in performing proper inspections. All in the organization, integrity, dedication and the commitment of staff to the institution and students.

Maria,

Excellent points. The success of a program review or audit is based on the quality of the work done daily. As long as your team is striving for integrity and accuracy in processing your review will be successful.

Yep, we have to be prepared not to get caught by surprise. Be organized.

Patricia,

Organization and inspection is the key to being prepared. You cannot simple expect Student Financial Aid to be accurate you must inspect the process including student documents, internal and external procedures. It is important to understand how each department within the college interacts with the student's overall success.

We also have recently been thru one and it turned out well becuase it helps you to see things that may need to be improved . We look at items so much everyday it becomes 2nd nature. When a fresh set of eyes come in it always helps and you can always improve.

Nicole ,

Your attitude is great - you should not be fearful of the process but look for ways to improve your internal procedures for administrating FSA funds. It is important to ensure that all processes are handled in a compliant manner.
