Does the Election Affect Retention?
Most of my students were not passionate about the election and seemed most focused on the here and now.
Lawrence, was the election a topic of classroom discussion at your school? Where there any "get out the vote" campaigns? Should there be?
there was some discussion of the election in my class but it was kept to just general comments about government. I dont beleive it is very wise to get into a in depth discussion about specific beliefs. this could cause arguments and possible fights
I agree. The only "safe" thing to do is to present both sides as impartially as possible and let the student make up his/her mind. I think that the election, while having little effect on retention, has had a huge effect on enrollment.
Tell us more about the effect of the election on enrollment, Kevin. Did you see an immediate and dramatic change in applications? Any idea why?
