Intervention

A friendly sile, a caring approach and steadfast support can be powerful tools for intervention.

Jeremy can you elaborate on that? How would you support it? I am a new instructor and I am looking for the insight from personal experiences.

I agree, a smile can be the opening a student is looking for to start talking.

I had a student who was struggling with family situations and had no confidence in herself, she was unable to get good grades and continually having issues with one of her professor and was afraid to communicate with him and was about to withdrawn from school, I noticed her stress and invited her to my office to talk she noticed my sincerity and opened up to me right away. I listen to her with open heart and promised her to try to help her, I talked to her professor and make him understand her situation and that she don’t want to withdraw but afraid to communicate with him, he knew she was very intelligent and eager student, professor talked to her and made her feel comfortable and within few weeks she was a different person, passed with good grads and graduated last year.

Nicely done, Azra. Sometimes all it takes is someone to take time to care.
