Customers

Some students feel because they are customers and paying for an education they deserve to do what they want. Being a culinary school how do you get students to understand that they are in college for an education and not just for free meals. They think because they are paying for college they should be allowed to eat what they want.

Todd,

Perhaps it would be valuable to take the time early in the course to set expectations and to explain why those expectations exist. Usually students who understand "why" do not challenge policies that exist for good reasons.

Students are indeed customers, but they are also paying for our professionalism and judgment. We have to provide the best gudance possible.

I just explain to them this is your education and you are paying alot of money for it. I explain to them that the school wants them to be the best that they can be,as well as myself. After saying it enough they seem to get it and start taking things serious.
