It is so refreshing to read about strategies to understand the demographics of our classrooms. These adults learners are our students and motivating them is extremely important. As well as keeping them engaged. If I don't know the people I am sharing the space with, how do I expect to keep them motivated? Ths is an excellent opportunity to understand my students more and be able to relate to their situations and experiences.

I have found that when students feel that there will be encouragement at school, they will work hard to be at school.  I mean call the situation they are dealing with what it is and showing them the reason to press on even in the mist of the trouble because it is their way out.

Some of the key things I learned is to capure the students attention, which is always great. You have to engaged your students so they will learn and retain.

This was a great learning activity for keeping students engaged and motivated.  It also brought key points for keeping myself focused and motivated.  I will use these strategies moving forward.

I loved this module about utilizing soft skills in the work place to enhance abilities as a teacher.  This pertains to relationships with students, coworkers, and staff.  I think everyone should take this module!  Think how harmonious we would all be at work if we implemented these skills !  :)

I want to take this course again after one year and want to follow my trend as an instructor and advisor.

As educator one of the challenges that we deal everyday is on how to engage the students and stay focus on their study, lecture-discussions or even achieve higher scores. It is imperative to recognize and understand the intrinsic and extrinsic factors that may interfere with their studies. After identifation of the problem, educators needs to focus on the resolution of the proble. Some of the important way to keep the students attention is by teaching with confidence and competence and staying current to the issues, research concerning the class and current events to update our students too and for them… >>>

 It is my desire to demonstrate a full effectiveness in my role as an instructor. I intend to utilize the new information that has been presented to me in the learning module to enhance my classroom interaction with the students.

Students achieve self-confidence by not only mastering the material, by becoming more responsible for their learning.

Any collaborative projects that have been facilitated, is great appreciated when the instructor also participates based on experience over material being mastered. 

Students enjoy applying information to clinical experiences and doing hands on with purpose and direction from the instructor.

As a result they grow professionally and continue to develop their expertise--they take responsibility for further learning--some have even researched info for purposes of evaluation.

I love the classes, these are the best.

I think that reveiwing for a quiz or test is a good idea when everyone is doing the same thing.  I'm going to check into our department and see what others are doing.

Best practices: Never give up when challenged

Action plans:

1- Be selective in choosing who you are going to invest this time with

2- Wisdom and experience comes in all ages and types of people

3- Use and leverage in person and technology tools to make this happen

Challenges: Belonging to the minority group has sometimes created obstacles to my grow

Successes: I was able to earn an Advanced Practice graduate degree although facing many difficulties along my way

I found that making sure the students are encouraged to succeed and valued as a program participant really helps them finish the program.

I have noticed that asking my students lots of questions during the course of a class is a great way to get the students involved in the class. I try to use a variety of questions from really easy to really difficulty. If the students are not able ot answer the really difficulty questions I try to break it down into a series of easier questions. These questions once they work through enable to student to answer the hard question.

Encouragement, acknowledgement and creating an environment conducive to learning is my best practice.

Interesting - but triky to have group activities with mixed adult and younger students.
