Supervisory skills

This tutorial was very helpful. Ithe will help me to interact better the different styles/characteristic of co-workers and students. We just recently did a similiar  in- service called "True Colors".

Delegating

Great tutorial! Proper delegation is important for both the employer and the employee. It helps the business run more efficiently and helps the employee develop new skills. As a manager it is important not to give to much advice on how accomplish a specific task but rather to let the employee use and develop their own creativity and problem solving techniques. It is also important to monitor the given task but not "hover" over the empoyee during the completion of the task.

Great!

This was a very helpful tutorial in teaching me how to manage my own managers!

Excellent

Great training!

Grading Skills

This course helped me to understand that it takes patience to learn and grow with different personality traits with employees

Kitchen/class assignments mimic real life

I work as a chef-instructor in a well-known culinary school.  I have been using the techniques/skills discussed in my everyday assignments with my students.  The cooking assignments are shared by all, no matter your culinary background.  Involving students in things they've never made before is always a fun challenge, after all if they do well with the task they get to eat their work.  If it's something they have never heard of the technique to get to the end product is something they already should know.  Being a chef is more then just cooking, involving students in time-management gives a… >>>

Move them up - or out

I recently have been hired on to turn around an underperforming admissions team. My task involves training and developing a small team increase daily activites to drive the overall success of the organization. I've noticed poor work habits and intend on addressing them. I conduct weekly Employee Development Meetings and provide feedback and we work on goal setting. If employees aren't progressing then they will have to be placed on a Performance Improvement Plan (with HR's approval) and "get with the program". Get on the train, or get off.

Action Plan

One of the most important concepts I have learned from this tutorial is that, yes, it's important to know the details of my program, however, I don't necessarily need to manage these details.

managing different individuals

This tutorial gave some good insight into different management styles for different employees to optimize performance.

Personality Types

This is great information on the different personality types of employees. This was really helpful in identifying my own personality type. I'm positive it will be helpful in identifying other employees personality types which will aid in communication and intereactions with them.

wow

Such great information! I wish I would have read this 10 years ago!! I could have saved myself a lot of worry and heartache over a lot of projects that I thought only I was capable of doing.  I should have also delegated, shared expectations and praised a lot more from the very beginning of my ownership, I would be better at it now!

Details

know them, don't try to manage all of them.

Delegating

Selecting the right employee is essential. Delegating helps you as the manager and builds confidence in the employee. You should always be training someone to take your job if you plan to move to the next level.

Delegation

This module encouraged me to folllow up once I delegate a task prior to completion.

Making a contribution to the organization

By carefully selecting the best candidate for the position, we as hiring managers play an important role in creating a team that will impact the organization positively. Through the years, I have learned that it is crucial to ask behavioral questions that may lead to future behavioral traits that will not align with the job description. By asking open-ended questions, be an effective listener we can make more effective decisions about who may be the best candidate for the position.

This training has opened new horizons by understanding the difference between structured and unstructured interviews, what questions to ask and not to ask,… >>>
