This class was a very timely it offered a lot of helpful suggestions on how to organize syllabi ,classroom and also how to manage your classroom expectations everything that the new instructor would like to know as far as the management strategies in the classroom.
I had such a problem with this one. Is it just me? I tried to take it, it kicked me out, reloaded it as finished and with a failed score. I only finished half of it. Maybe it's my internet....
GREAT course! I highly recommend it for those teaching Medical Terminology. I have searched for game-like ideas to implement into use during class time, only to come up with Jeopardy or something ridiculously juvenile. The facilitator uses several different modalities all of which seem simple enough to use, very time friendly, and worthy of at least trying. Any idea where one can find additional games to use within Medical Terminology? Better yet, Pharmacology?
This is a very good course with great information. It helps instructors to remember there are all kinds of students with differnent learning styles and needs to be considered when making a lesson plan. It was also very helpful in directly addressing career college students. Good reminder of the importance of motivation in the class room.
This was a good course to help understand the importance of lesson plans. There are publisher lesson plans out there which can be used, but it's a good idea to personalize them to match student needs and learning styles, as well as the instructor's individual teaching style. Outcomes need to be measurable and reflect the objectives of the course and standards for the field.
I never really gave thought to the "security" during instruction. I do cover some of the ways to give students security but will be thinnking about it more this semester and incorporating some of the ideas. Any one have more ideas??
This was a very accurate tool for understanding students and how to reach and retain them. It helps if the instructors leave their ego behind and focus on the student experience. It closely matches and models the career school students we have in our evening classes and the various methods to help them along their academic careers.
As a new instructor in the last 2 years i had no experience teaching. Being able to lean on peers and these courses have helped in giving me more insite on the big picture.
This course is Amazing! I have gained some great idea on how to spice up medical terminolog. I am looking forward to trying these ideas out with my students.
These are great courses for newer or veteran instructors. Our student bodies are always changing. This particular course touched on two relevant topics that I will use immediately, ELL learners and learning disabled. Our courses are night schooled and a majority of our students are either ELL or have some learning impediment. This course presents research based solutions that can be easily tested and implemented. It will make me a better instructor and that will provide better student focus.
Still learning to grow and improve. If anyone has tips, please feel free to let me know. Thanks!
Being a instructor is something I never thought I'd become. Being a Machinist for over 25 years is what thought I was going to do for the rest of my career.
Becoming an Instructor is something my wife suggested, but I didn't think I could do. I was never comfortable in front of large group of people, and I know I have the experience and knowledge, but I didn't feel I had the confidence of how to convey the information needed to becoming a machinist. My wife purely went off the fact that I enjoyed training new people, oddly enough… >>>
I found the information very helpful. I've struggled with being able to motivate some students and I will take some of this information and apply it in my classes and I believe it will be helpful. I particularly like the idea of breaking the class in groups and letting them work together on some assignments. I believe it will help them open up and also get to know their classmates.
This course was very informative and helpful! I love being able to address soft skills with my new students to get their thoughts flowing and see what their understanding is about soft skills early in the college experience. I find that soft skills is not explained or discuss in great detail on the high school level.
Soft skills are extremely important. This course was very imformative and explains how soft skills play a huge roll being able to connect with not only the students but the other faculty and staff and helps us all work as a team.
