Do you think participation in class engage students?

Engaging students is important for their learning because when they are paying attention and are concentrating in class, they are receiving more information that will remain in their brain. Participation is crucial as well as maintaining a good learning environment using different tools the internet offer.

Online education

Years ago, I used to think that I needed to be in a classroom and have a professor in front of me to be able to learn. These days I would not change online education for anything. I can take the course at my own pace and study at odd hours from home. Online does require self-discipline and focus, but if you have a goal in mind you can reach it.

Disabilities

For those with disabilities, how does the instructor know the equipment a student is utilizing. Our school does not allow tests to be done on an IPAD, this is because of formatting, so this is a concern for those with disabilities and the equipment they use, how do we know it is effective with the formatted content.

Commercially prepared games: the good, the bad, and the ugly?

I have been using Kahoot! Blooket, Quizlet, and Quizziz a lot.  My students LOVE Blooket, because of the outrageous competitiveness in acquiring points, yet I think for that very reason, it isn't reinforcing information acquisition and retention as best as it could.  Some of the rules of the game are difficult for my adult learners, they often ask their children to help.  Kahoot! has been good, but due to the nature of the peer creation, caution is the word, as many are careless in providing correct answers.  Quizlet and Quizziz are not as dynamic but are certainly focused on reinforcing newly learned material.

Speech Generated Devices

I think many educators are unaware of the communication needs of some of our students. Technology has come a long way, and we could certainly students who could benefit from the use of speech generated devices.

Thanks for your insight.  I look forward to reading your experiences.

Addressing the Elephant in the Online Classroom: Artificial Intelligence Content Generators

I really would have liked to see an updated discussion about how to handle not only traditional forms of plagiarism, such as copying previously published work, but also advice on how best to respond to newer forms of academic dishonesty relating to the incursion of AI-generated content into the classroom. This is a new, but vitally important area for discussion and debate within the academic community as the technology advances almost daily at this point, an instructors will need to have resources and a plan for addressing the inevitable question of whether any of these new technologies should have a place in modern educational environments. Of particular importance is the question of how to evaluate the possible pros and cons of integrating AI models, and whether they can enhance the quality of student learning, or if they in fact hinder it.
