About me

Activity

I spend a lot of time teaching soft skills. It seems as though society has left soft skills out of the foundation of how people raise their children and traditional public schools are busy teaching to a state test to take the time to teach these very important qualities. Many times I have had employers say they do notmind teaching technical skills; I refuse to teach everyday interpersonal skills and good manners.

@kbrew : I used to weigh my words more careful as to not offend anyone with the realization that my students are customers. What I was trying to communicate to them, they still werent getting it. I have learned more direct communication skills and if they seem upset in anyway, I follow up with "I wouldn't be doing a good job for you if I didn't address this issue". It seems to be working better for me.  :)

I would like to think many leaders are open to being approached ablut their leadership style. I am always willing to help my leaders and I believe it sets a tone for my team as they are willing to assist me when I am in need. I work to empower my team and my leaders. The leaders in our orginization sometimes feel unsupported; I feel good when I can.

Students are customers whom I value. That said, for many years I went way above and beyond to provide good customer service and when there was nothing more to offer I would get push back. I give a little less now and that way when I make an exception to the rule, I have something to offer.
