Learned that student should not limit their search to only high paying salary jobs. They need to assess themselves, explore further and see if the career field is a good fit for them. This module can be applied by helping students create profiles about themselves that set them apart from others, reflect on their skills, and encourage them to become a member of a professional organization.

Teamwork is a key component to the retention stage. This stage is also an improvement stage. Giving time for students to revisit their goals and modify if needed. Help others know that it is okay to adjust their goals and it is common to do as a professional.

Modifying goals happens in the preparation stage. Help keep students on track. Educate them on the commitment stage that involves choosing a career and what all the things are that come with it. This would include networking with others in that job field and all the required items that go along with job hunting.

Takeaways included helping students find their interests and have personal growth. I plan to help others continue to investigate and work through their goals to become successful in their careers.

Advisory councils made up of community members and other stakeholders are key to making connections with others and for collaborating on SBE programs. The learning from this module can be applied in various ways. One ways is adjusting to change and be adaptable to that to better SBE programs in a school. Change is bound to happen. Another way is working on building partnerships with key stakeholders. Lastly, this information can be applied to core classes in schools. Encouraging core teachers (math for example) to partner with construction or culinary classes to help students understand the "why" behind certain math… >>>

I have learned how to help students learn and gain soft skills. Within my classroom I can incorporate time-management activities. By helping students prioritize tasks can help them reach their goals they have set for themselves. Another takeaway from this module was on how students’ can gain industry certificates while still in high school. This is something that I am interested in learning more about and how this can look in at school. Lastly, by incorporating industry workers as speakers will only better prepare students for what the real world is like in the career area.

I have learned that your classroom should mimic a business or workplace you are wanting. Make it fit the needs of your classroom and school-based enterprise. I can apply information from this module by holding students accountable just like the real workplace setting. By enforcing expectations such as good communication, professionalism and teamwork. Along with that, having evaluations with students and procedures for certain things can help make a school-based enterprise successful.

I have learned many new things from this module. As a current CTE teacher, I am always curious about school-based enterprises and how they could look in my school. I know we are doing this type of thing at our high school in a business class but I'm always curious how it could look in other areas of our CTE department. One thing that could be applied from my learning is allowing students to fully buy-in and be leaders and promote their leadership skills.

Students need the necessary skills to enter the real world. They should have respect and understanding of other places around the world and other cultures and backgrounds. By helping students understand what culturally sensitive is can better prepare them for their future and working with others different than themselves.

I learned that career management is on-going and life-long. By guiding and helping students explore different careers and pathways can help them stay more aware of different opportunities and become more aware of their goals, interest, and things they value most. By helping them become more self-aware can help them better understand what their strengths are.
