This program is as good as the class managment that is conducted in the students learning areas style and learning to read students and questions they might have since you have to make it easy for them to identify main ideas and key details.;
I set up my class with at least 15 minutes before so I am ready to greet my students at the door and get right into the lesson of the day
I have learned to be prepared. Students are very observational. they can see wht type of instructor you are if you are not prepared.
Guest Speakers are an awesome tool to students get excited seeing a barber do a clipper cut and a stylist blow out or hi light a head. It is great to see the student connect with that speaker, espically those that are shy.
I have learned that being prepared for class is a good way to show respect for your students.
While it is important to have boundries with you students, it is also important to be able to relate to them.
I have learned how to keep the students ingaged in the topic I am teaching. Also that all teachers , present class in a different way. Observing othert teachers is a key way to learn what kind of teacher I am. Where I need to inprove.
I like the idea of taking notes about my lecture after the class is over. Both, the positive and the negative and learn from both.
Learning to some techniques on how to see myself as the type of teacher I want to be to my students. My teaching style and ways to keep students engaged.
Knowing the type of instructor I want to be vs the instructor I am will help me perfect my craft and find my niche. Always be prepared and organized for your class. Stay personable, build rapport with my class and admit when I am wrong then move on. Stay ready for change and understand the reason why I chose to become an instructor in the first place.
I liked the suggestion about preparing guest speakers with focus questions to ensure that the learning experience aligns with your objectives. I have had students write the questions before, and I have even had them do the outreach and communication with guest speakers ahead of time. That has been a useful approach to student engagement.
Being prepared and motivated when coming into a classroom setting will help drastically setting up for success.
Field trips can be fun and also educational but it is a good idea to have an observation sheet so the stdnets can pay attention to details.
Being prepared with all materials and assignments provides a sense of organization and instills confidence in students.
