first class meeting
Even after prepareing for the first meeting with the class,I find a high percentage of my students do not keep the info available, and I end up with the same questions anyway.
this happens in some classes. Could be nerves. After a few times it usually sinks in.
I put a certain amount of responsibility on the student concerning first day handouts by telling them they need to refer back to these documents occasionally. A signed acknowledgement page helps.
In our classroom we have a separate whiteboard with the most important expectations of class behavior so as to re-inforce S.O.P.'s.
Also there are some reminders of lab requirements.
It is there at all times.
This sounds like a good idea as a continuous reminder. Question, do the students ever add anything to the board in reference to expectations and ground rules?
Thanks, Allen!

I also post documents that remind the students of their roles and responsibilities in the class, which is located next to their schedule.
