Prioritizing tasks is difficult at times especially when we have many different things to do. Making list and bullet points helps me the most. I also try not to overwhelm myself by trying to do to many things at once. When we teach we have to show our students how to prioritze their tasks in the kitchen, this technique is an important tool in every facet of life.
I have a tendency to finish the "easy" tasks first. I for some reason always think if i make my list smaller then it will go faster.
I need to follow the advice in the lesson more. I need to be able to make up my mind and prioratize better. That will be my goal starting today is to make a to-do list and finish them in the proper order.
I agree with you... It's easier to do a to-do list and keep checking off by most important to least important
It's hard to change if you have a habit of procrastination Roger. Sometimes we have to start slow and focus on just addressing the important tasks quickly. Then we can focus on the rest later.
I usually accomplish the important tasks as soon as I can. If something urgent comes up I add it to the list and will sometimes put other tasks on hold to get to something more urgent. This module helped to get the to do list writing done correctly the first time.
I will in the future create a list and try to accomplish the more important and urgent task earlier and the not so important task earlier than they are do but not at the last minute.
Excellent to hear Keegan. Yes, it's important to get things down right and the first time around. Saves us from doing rework later.
I already practice a mental priority list. However, I will start writing them down. The visual will help resist procrastination.
you should always prioritize your tasks so that everything gets accomplished faster and less stress and being tired.
important to prioritize tasks to get through each day
i always do the most urgent tasks first
Yes, knowing I could end up with free time at the end and not stress will help me get important tasks completed first.
I generally try to get the tasks done immediately - I find that I'm naturally prone to procrastinate, but then I get more stressed. To combat the seemingly natural propensity to procrastinate, I try and complete things as soon as possible.
Sounds like a great approach Katie, especially for a natural procrastinator. It's important for each instructor to learn about their individual working style and plan accordingly.
Certain tasks that are prioritized as urgent and important are considered a top priority. As a department we accomplish these first. One killer for schedules is the emerging priorities created by other departments without formal staffing.
When a single department can be tasked by multiple departments this creates a chaotic work environment. Often timelines are bumped up just because someone wants to make sure things are done ahead of schedule. These artificial deadlines also throw schedules out of balance.
Just something to think about as we consider priorities.
I tackle the jobs most important first. Its most effective and to completing things in a timely and efficient manner.
I am not one to use a "to do" list, but I have found that I will need to complete one of these "to do" list to accomplish all my task, as my schedule is getting busy, know that I have been promoted and also picked up a second class to teach. There diffently isn't enough time in the day to get all my life priority task done.
To do lists are absolutely helpful when your schedule is busy. When you have a lighter schedule, sometimes you can get away with not having one too. So use it when you need it Bonnie!
Excellent strategy Julius and I'm sure it works quite well for you. Addressing priority tasks is typically the best approach. With this method, we are always on top of our deadlines.
I agree I like to end on a softer noted
