So true Elias. It's wonderful to be able to share your stress with people who are in your exact situation. Sometimes we have to be careful that we share with the right people though.
I agree with your point on consistency Althea. For some of us, a routine really does help get everything done. Consistency can be key for some instructors.
Garden work is such fun Brenda! It's also rewarding too. The process of planting can really help take your mind off of things. Then seeing the fruits of your labor can be a wonderful experience.
Indeed! Note that sometimes, recreational activity can be physical. It's possible to enjoy your day and get in a good work out too Dennis!
Sounds like a reasonable plan Charles! Yes, we've got to find a way to incorporate coping into our daily routines. When we're limited on time, sometimes simple breathing and mental breaks are all we can do. I should say they do make a difference.
Those are all great thoughts Erin! Go ahead and give just one of them a try. Sometimes we have to think big but start small.
I will start a more active exercise schedule as well as work on some breathing techniques while exercising. I will also see if I can confide with a friend to see if they have had any success in dealing with similar stressful situations.
Sounds like a wonderful plan Bernard! Exercise, breathing and sharing with trusted freinds are all great ways to deal with stress.
Definantly incorporate breathing techniques as well as talking about what is going on.
I believe that I am going to try yoga. Yoga involves stretching exercises that will reduce the tension and tightness I feel in my neck and shoulders. I am very excited to start diminishing my stress!!!
Excellent plan Allison. Breathing and sharing are two great and easy methods for coping with stress! It's also nice to know we can do them almost anywhere.
Our campus offered yoga, healthy eating, and
other various wellness options- we had much
happier employees and many stated they felt better in the classroom and their students noticed and commented...
it was contagious...
I like stretching when my body feels tight. I will try to get as much sleep as I can to refresh my mind. And I will try to add some physical activity to my day to help relieve stress.
Surprisingly, I often forget to breathe effectively. One strategy that I try to practice is known as 6 x 6, which is to take 6 deep breaths 6 times each day. Often I must set a timer to remind myself, but it's something that only takes a minute.
I will make sure to eliminate the bad coping mechanisms such as grinding my teeth and reducing coffee. I will make sure to use positive coping mechanisms such as exercising and using breathing techniques.
I began running on the treadmill March 1 of this year. I now do three miles a day. I have lost over 20 pounds. It feels good to do something for myself. I do not feel so overwhelmed by the demands around me. I do have more energy for the demands on me. Also, I work on being mentally relaxed and looking for the "fun" in a situation. Humor goes a long way to making connections with everyone around me. The stress level of all of us goes down.
That sounds like a wonderful strategy Tom! Thanks for sharing. I like the 6 by 6 method as long as you can remember to do it that many times a day!
Excellent plan Caren! Don't be afraid to start small with new coping mechanisms. Just try getting some good sleep at first, then work in the physical activity.
Wow, sounds like you are on the right track Laura and have been for a while! It's amazing how when you get started with coping how many benefits you can experience. Running leads to decreased stress and decreased weight. Keep it up!
Wow, that's wonderful to hear Mary. So many companies today are starting to offer benefits like the ones you mentioned with much success. Happy employees often lead to happy students!
