Submitting Assignments via Cellular Phone
Utilizing a Cellular Phone to submit an assignment as proven to be unacceptable to me. Most students do not possess a smart phone; therefore I've receive horrible homework assignments via text messages.
Alison,
It is good for those who have the technology, but should not be expected by those who do not.

I have actually wondered how that is done. Over the years, several of my students with little computer or internet access have actually been very successful keeping up with the classroom work. Joe Skeens
Joseph,
We live in an age where we almost have to take what we can get!!

If you're going to allow students to submit work using any device, you have to set parameters as to what's acceptable.
Maybe provide direction on how the submitted work needs to look along with other options for students who don't have that particular capability on their specific device.
We had to create a work-around for students to submit online assignments because the device they were provided (through the school) didn't allow for attachments!
Sue,
True, this is really not any different than sending your check to your bank via your smart phone, there are expectations for this convenience.

Assignments via text message seems unacceptable for the most part at this stage of technology. However, using a smartphone with the appropriate app to posting in a discussion board or read email is a great way to provide and enhancement engagement.
Jacob,
Oh I so agree! Texting will lead to broken English. Smartphones will at least help with that part of the technology!
