Dynamic instructional design
I look at my job as that of a facilitator, one that helps my students on the start their journey through whatever life brings their way. My goal is for them to find their own path to achieve their goal. The journey is all about reliable knowledge.
Wilfred,
Good points! Facilitating the learning process is a central function of the instructor - I like your reference to reliable knowledge which develops as a result from an effective learning process.

I agree completely. One thing I really like about dynamic instructional design is that it has the potential to tear down the authoritarian paradigm that exists in traditional education. I find it far more effective to assist a student in taking charge of their learning rather than to create a dependancy.
David,
Very true and how do you see the effectiveness with your students?
Dr. Ruth Reynard
One of the things I do is to have students research current events in healthcare (which is constantly changing) and if their research is better than mine, I swap it out and give them credit as the source for finding the material - students appreciate that they are actually helping to build the course and that their contributions are treated seriously. For my part - my classes are ALWAYS evolving, and changing and that keeps things fresh for all of us.
Patricia,
I love it! Very dynamic and flexible which are the central characteristics of today's learning environments.
