Animation Is Powerful

Animation can be an exciting way to engage learners with your content. From my experience as an instructor, even the most simplistic animations can serve as a helpful visual aid.

Frank,
Good point.....sometimes students can get lost in the video and miss the point!

There is a pitfall to visuals. I have seen visuals that are so "over the top" that they actually cloud the message or concept that is being discussed. I find that the old rule of keeping it simple when depicting a process or technical concept is most effective.

Donald,
I think the K-12 courses are up and coming. Animation will definitely help!

I think that animation in a college setting is probably over the wall. I would like to see animation done in a college course. I do think that animation for a K-12 course could be quite helpful. What you you think?

I agree, just like if you were giving a class presentation, it is important to back the video up with reinforcing the ideals of a lesson.

Nashid,
This is a good idea. Discussion along with video or animation can be a very powerful learning tool.

I think video should be bookended with discussion. A risk of video or animation - is that it may be used as the sole delivery. It should be an enhancement only.

I would love to use it, but don't know how. Is there some training somewhere?

Dara,
Who does not love a good video!!! We have become use to being a visual society!

Shelly Crider

I like to use animations as a summary of what was just discussed or learned. The animations seem to simplify in a visual way, and the students remember the animation features when thinking about the topic. I think it is a great way to learn through repetition using a variety of forms.

I have to agree that animations (and even infographics) are a great way to showcase and support what it is that we are talking about during a lecture. I always feel like I get a better response when I have a cool visual to support what I am talking about.

Yes, and I have found that students are sometimes more apt to watch an animation than do a lot of reading. The animation is more engaging.
