Many of my students are limited when it comes to live labs because of the limited minutes on their phones. They miss out on valuable interaction with the instructor and classmates. What would you suggest I me to offer my students in lue of the live labs?
Marie,
Have a look at the capabilities of something like Google Hangouts (free) and/or Skype for mobile devices. Skype is also free. Google Hangouts can be set up for anyone to be included and you can share only audio or video as well. This is also available for a phone. I hope this helps...

For those students that can't attend the live events we record the session.
Lilia,
This helps for those who miss and also to provide opportunity for review for those who attended.

Hi Marie, I do understand how that can be frustrating. Have you tried a Join-me account. They are free, the audio and visual is available, so it is all through the computer. If you have many rural students, Skype is a way, however it would cost you, as the instructor between $4-$10 dollars a month, depending on the number of attendees.
I do know that some schools will reimburse this, rather than not have alternatives to their students. I would look into it. My school has finally agreed to give us $15 a class to use our own cell phones. It was cheaper than furnishing a phone.
These are just my suggestions that I know have worked for me. Good luck!
We use Adobe Connect and the students do not need to use a phone to be a participant. They can use a microphone to speak and chat in a chat pod and the instructor and student can share documents. We can as instructors share our screen if doing a tutorial of some sort. I also found screensharing software to be helpful.
