This module covered a lot of information. I hope that I don't have any conflicts, but if I do, with this information in Module 4, I should be able to handle it.

I learned about several typical types of online learners - noisy, quiet, disruptive, intimidators, and procrastinators, as well as strategies to address them. Online learning can be similar to a traditional classroom as learners are unique and have their own learning styles and preferences. I found the tips to reach the procrastinators useful because they push items to the last minute and then have excuses. The suggestion of "Set up alternative arrangements for submitting assignments, or communicating with you in case of technical problems" is a great idea to help with some of those issues.

Online learning has it's challenges but with proper guidelines set by the instructor can help the different types of students learn effectively.

I learne that elearners may also experience technical issues which can cause them to drop out of an online course.

in this modulo we learned strategies of how to keep course records, best way to communicate with students, how to counceling them, also dealing with undesirable behavior and how to solve student conflict  under the guide of the police and procedures of the institution

I particularly found interesting that the various behaviors in classic classroom settings among students resignate in an e-learning environment as well, such as the quiet student, the disruptive student, the intimidators, and the procrastinators.

During Module 4, I learned strategies to facilitate, manage and save student communication, techniques and tips for managing online student behavior and ideas to reduce attrition.  This module was very helpful and validating as I have felt overwhelmed with the volume and various methos of student communication.  I plan to implement what I have learned, particularly the importance of "subject line"  and "response time" expectations,

There was a lot of ground covered in this module.

Attrition is a real problem and sometimes it is very difficult to know what hurdles the students is facing.

I now have a better appreciation for the student who falls behind in assignments, I will definitely use the suggested technique of personally reaching out to the student with private email or chat to help them develop better time management skills ro allow them to successfully complete the course

I have learned how important it is to be organized.

This is so on point. "Some learners may find it difficult to develop informal relationships in an e-learning environment." I learned early in my career that students are timid and shy. If they do not want to engage, they won't and their academic progress can suffer if they are not following up with the instructor. I usually try to stay in touch via emails and messages. This sometimes helps, but there are times I've had students refuse to engage altoghter. This is when having a strong online support team comes in handy to support my efforts.

There are various reasons why a student may choose to drop out of the course. By keeping in regular touch with the student and offering support you amy facilitate their continuation.  In my opinion, it comes down to maintaining personal communication with your students and getting to know them. Organizational skills of the instructor are also vitally important. The instructor should be aware of their own learning style in order to create a smooth learning experience.

I was able to pick up on the importance of providing a support system for the students in the event of problems occuring on the home front, and how best to address them.

Setting firm expectation early on with specific guidlines and rules while using personal approaches will help curb bad behavior.

What I learned in this module is that you need to be organized not only with the instructinal part of the class but with how you will communicate with the students, how to organize your emails and give the students the pramaters for how you will respond to their emails. Also to be in control of the class and not allow any student to bully another or to disrup the classroom setting. Make sure you are aware of the campus policies and how to handle them with respect .

I learned that it is very important to make sure to communicate with students frequently.  Also not all students will not be as comfortable to learning online, especially when outside factors can become disruptive to their learning ability.

In order to manage the E-Learning Environment appropriately I need to keep in mind that I have to stablish:

  • A good system to keep records by organizing the types of information that is important for me  to save.
  • An effective way to communicate with students using e-mails and adhere myself to answer to the student in a period no longer than 24 hours.
  • A counseling system to students by using e-mails or chats. Students will receive information about how to use the appropriate feature in the online learning technology. This will allow me to save all the information concerning to the specific student.
  • An excellent knowledge of undesirable behaviors. Knowing the different types of these behavioral traits inherent to their personality profiles will facilitate me to manage and guide the students using the guidelines provided in this course.
  • A vast knowledge of different ways in resolving student conflicts. In this specific point I have to respect the institutional policies and procedures on how to resolve conflicts effectively. Always keeping records of all important communications  and how I have been handling any behavioral problem is a must.
  • It is my responsibility to keep the majority of my student engage in the e-course. Learners may exit an e-learning program for a number of reasons. I have to provide them the proper support and advices related with the fallowing facts:Following the guidelines to manage each fact, will let me help my students when they face any of the previous facts:

           *They feel alienated.

           *The workload is too heavy.

           *Competing responsibilities.

           *Technical issues.

Following the guidelines to manage each fact, will let me help my students when they face any of the previous facts.

I learned just like in a traditional setting, record management or organization is key for success.

I have learned there are different types (labels) of learners as to how they respond to discussion forums.  I also was surprised that e-mail is the most preferred method of communication between students and teachers.  I would have thought a personal phone-call would have been preferred.

One method to assist with student attrition is to send an email reminding the student of their goals in education.
