Be happy

I like to have a great attitude while working with students

so do I

Your attatude is contagious if you show it,your students will follow.

I agree. Our attitude will contribute greatly to the students enjoying the class, learning, our enjoyment, and overall the retention.

Having fun in class is what I stive for. I believe if your presentation is like a good comedy routine they will retain more knowledge. You have to be carefull and make sure there is substance.

Seems like it would put a lot of pressure on an instructor to deliver a lively comedy routine every day. Do your students ever get confused about what's serious?

They realize its all serious I just believe they retain more knowledge if put in a more funny way.

I totally agree. You set the mood of your classroom. If you bring to work bad vibes from home, guess what kind of vibes you'll have in the classroom.

I believe that the lessons need to be interesting and there needs to be ways to keep the students from getting bored. I have had students that do not take it serious. They think that it should be all fun and no work. In that type of situation, you need to be more serious.

There has to be a proper balance between both.

As per outside inflections of a perceived mood, most would agree that somewhat of an upturned attitude will be greatly reflected back upon oneself.

I think you "NEED" to have a great attitude while working with students. If your not having fun, whats the point?

I agree!!! If students are having fun they want to be (and stay) in school.

A great attitude is the most important thing to have in the class room! If you come into the room with your problems from your outside life, The students seem to know it, probably because you are not yourself. People know when something is wrong. Leave your problems outside the door. Start each day in a good mood, you owe it to your students! Learning should be fun!!!

i believe that having fun in the class makes participants out of all the students, it seems that they pay more atention in class. I have even heard a student call my presentation "Edutainment"

Robert I could not agree more, during the SOP portion of my class I always tell the students that I have a requirement for them, to relax and have fun with the subject.

To be happy is very contagious, just like being depressed. I had a student that was very depressed and mentioned to him that if I can help I will if it is within my power, but to try to look for the good things in his life.

I try to continue the feeling I have in class to extend to the care for the students. A student in dificulty should get an extra hand and a few leading questions to judge if there is a real problem or if the down turn is just atemporary thing.

First day greet students at the door with how arer you doing this is class 'whatever' please have a seat we will began as soon as the bell rings. After the bell rings I introduce my self and welcome the students to the class in a positive manner and then explaine how role is going to be calledsetting exceptions then we get started

I have also had students that are just beaten down by life as they struggle to stay alert and active in class. I try to pull them to the side at some point and ask if there is something I could do or I try to steer them to the right department, but most of all I reassure them that the career path they chose at the beginning will be there key to a much happier future.
