The roles of an instructor, model, manage, and motivate resonated with me because each role also apples to leadership. Leaders must set the example by modeling the right behavior; manage the environment and the culture of their organizations; and encourage and inspire those they work with in order to ensure that their team is motivated achieve mission success.

I learned that teaching is a skill and takes time to develop your instructional style. Also, time and effort and personal and professional development is key. It is not about how smart you are but to show how much you love your subject and the students.

It noted in one of the readings: It has been said that no one can motivate you to do anything, you have to do it yourself. While this global statement is true in the broadest sense, an instructor can certainly create opportunities for students to motivate themselves as they move through their courses. --> I love motivating students! Good stuff in this section!

You must take initiative to improve yourself.

The three roles go hand in hand on being a Model, Motivator, and a Manager. Managing to balance those three roles will help become a strong leader for your students.

Model professionalism. Be their friend, not their pal. Focus on learning and professional growth. Don't go into the classroom trying to prove to know it all, there is always a student that knows more. Be passionate of the content you are teaching.
