Action Plan

I will be very clear with my syllabus on day one.  I will include "minute papers" into my teaching to assess progress and boost class attentiveness.  I will address problem areas with definitive actions, deadlines, and grading consequences.  I will try to remember cognitive, psychomotor and social skills in setting up my lectures and group activities.

Homework deadlines

I am new to teaching.  I have found that there is a rush to submit assignments at the end of the term.  I think I can better manage this by making sure to stay on top of grading and posting grades. I might consider an earlier final deadline at the end of the term.  Still a work in progress!

Great module I was able to relate to the information and how it can be used in the class room.

Becoming an Instructional Delivery Expert

This was a great module. It had great suggestions on dealing with different types of students. It also addressed many mistakes that new instructors make and how to correct them. I have suggested this module to my team members. I know it will be a good motivator course.

On Target

Previous to this position as an career college instructor, I taught in the public school sector as an Technology instructor. We we required to sit through hours of of Inservice training that was irrelevant to career training to young adults. This section was on point, informational and not bulked up with useless fluff. I will be able to take this information back to the classroom and use it to hopefully improve my teaching skills and rapport with the students. Great Content

I thought the suggestion of inviting the reps to come in to the classroom and observe was an excellent idea. This will help them understand each subject a little better.

How to involve the whole class in discussion......and make it fun!

I walk around my class while I lecture. I use power points during the lecture. I interact with all of them individually and with group assignmernts. I ask my students to challange me....and they do! They want to learn. I make a game out it if they stump me they get 5 points and if I stump them I take 5 points......The one with the most points at the end of the semester gets 5 extra points on their overall grade.

ED 113

I really enjoyed the material presented in this course.  The course gave me additional tools to effectively manage my classroom.  Enforcing campus rules such as no to food in the classroom is a challenge because there is no consistency among instructors on following this policy.

ED 110

A few things I liked about this course was the tips to make grading of Assignments, Exams and Quizzes easier. Having the students underlining the most important part of their answers will not only make it easier for the instructor to grade but also increase the chance for the student to answer the question. Additionally the advice to create a box for the short answers questions where the students put their answer in should make it easier to correct the exams.

Keep it moving!

I'd like to think that my instructing skills are similiar to those taught in this program.  My personality has allowed me to become a people person and show empathy towards every individual both in and out of any classroom.  Introduction to any class requires an idividual with empathy and clarity skills.  I, of which, pocess these skills.  I treat each student, peers and faculty with respect and expect it in return.  Students usually perform better if they feel you can relate to them up close and personal.  Eye conact, active listening and feedback are key points to guiding your class… >>>

How I can grow

This course helped me learn how to assess student frame of mind in a better way. I plan to work on reaching students on more levels.

Action Plan

It was good to have a refresher of ideas and tools to use in the classroom. These modules will help me to plan for engaging activities for my students. I can utilize these tools daily and help my students get the most from their education.

Great insight

This experience has giving me a great insight on managing everyday stressers!
