Camtasia sounds like a useful tool for quick tutorial videos showing how to use various functions of Moodle and Teams. Easier than stringing together lots of screenshots.
You have to learn how to navigate the tools that you will be using on line first hand. This way you can make sure that the functions are working properly with the course. You will have to ensure the tool that you are using is being used for what it was intended. This will have a big effect on what the feedback for the tool will be for future use.
I learned that there are so many technology tools that enhance teaching and learning.
In this lecture I have learned that we as instructors must learn the tools provided to us. If we know what the tools are capable of then we can use them in a productive manner to help advance the students learning.
I learned that an instructor needs to identify their own teaching style but also needs learn the pros and cons of the various online teaching tools so that the instructor can present the best course possible utilizing the best tools possible.
I learned the importance of choosing the right technology to help the learning process.
I really enjoyed learning about how to evaluate technology. There is so much technology out there and there and now I have some tools to assist with accessing them to see if they wil work for me and my students..
I have used the Start/Stop/Continue in my classes in the past and have gotten very useful feedback. It has helped me to change the way that I do things in my class for the better. The only thing that doesn't change, is the fact that things change.
using the correct tools in the learning process can help achieve performance in the classroom.
I like the tip that a technology tool can be chosen to engage students, but also help me organize the course content and also enhance the teaching process.
Just as with "In Class" teaching teachers in anonline course need to carefully select which tools will be most effective and engaging for the students. Technology offers a plethora of tools. A course may not be face to face, however there are tools both teacher and students need to learn to manipulate effectively so learning may proceed in an effective manner.
I learned that there are an array tech tools to use in the online classroom and job 1 for me will be to investigate them and practice with them so that I can make good decisions about which ones to use in online classes.
I learned as an instructor, my style is like a demonstrator. I also encouraged student participation to test their ability to retain the information that was given.
I learned that their are many tools that an instructor can use. These tools need to be evaluated to make sure that they are right for the teacher and sudents alike. They can be helpful if used in the correct way but can also hinder growth if not used corectly.
While there are many tools which are available for the instructor to choose from, It is a good idea for the instructor to become familiar with which ones will be best for the chosen teaching style and lesson in order for the students to best learn.
Quite a bit of practice with these tools, apps, and programs will help the teacher gain expert knowledge of the in's and out's of the functionality of such tools.
The different teaching styles mentioned here are very interesting. As a teacher, we often change roles within a day from one form (say, delegator when assigning a homework/project) to another (expert or demonstrators when solving a problem/example on the board) very frequently.
From this module I learned that selecting technology tools should be done by matching them to the teacher's teaching styles, but these tools should alighn with critical thinking and problem solving activities to ensure they are student-centered.
I have learned that I am more of an Authoritative teacher and that I need to include many other styles of teacher to be a sucess in the classroom, whether online or face to face.
I learned what several different options are when initially creating the course and what tools I want to use. I did not know what these programs were, although I had heard of them before. I now have a better understanding of what these tools are best for, such as the LMS, screen capture programs. virtual classrooms, wikis, and what their purpose is. I also learned that any lectures posted should be no longer than 15 minutes, which I will remember if an online class is needed in the future.
Overall, this portion of the course evaluates the use of appropriate technology tools as it relates to online course success.
