This was my first course through MaxKnowledge. I have 14 years teaching experience, but through this course, i got additional information . Also i had opportunity to see other instructors idea and different methods.
What have you learned? - I learned the importance of lesson plan, check list and other activities for the class room teaching. Specially importance and how effective should be the first day of class. What kind of information should be provided and what kind of information should be get from the students on very first day of class.
How can you apply it? - i am going to make some changes in my syllabus. I always include try to include all required information about course, but i didn't include dress code policy and certain school policies. Also i will try to bring at least one speaker from community to share their experience for successful career with students.
What support do you need? - My college and organization is very cooperative. Whenever i need any help or guidance, they are always ready and happy to help. This is one of the reason that i am able to teach very effectively and students are also getting good grades, not only that but at the end of the day they are leaving school and waiting for next day to come back.
yes, i enjoyed this course. I learned some of the techniques which helps us to improve class teaching as well as will make more interesting for students too.
-

-
How can you apply it? I can be more sympathetic to their individual needs, whether it is additonal instruction, encouragement, or extra time needed due to life problems (without being a pushover.)
-
What support do you need? I think this is on me to implement, honestly.

I completed Medical Terminology Made Fun. It was very helpful, and I regret I am half way into teaching introduction to medical terminology already.
I will start applying it today.
I have learned that learning medical terminology does not have to be primarily rote memorization.
I can apply many of the active learning suggestions.
I would like to continue to receive new suggestions and creative versions of the old.
I have learned some practical educational techniques in this course such as peripheral learning and the order of how students learn. I will employ these techniques in the classroom. The theory of Pygmalion reinforced my philosophy that I have used in most of my life; if you have positive expections about people ( students, your children, colleagues), they will usually rise to the occasion and do well.
I have just finished two of the ED courses and felt like they were a great reinforcer to a webinar we did as a school. The two courses went furthur indepth about practical examples of applying the theories and thoughts mentioned in the webinar.
I just finished ED105 and even though I knew more than 80%
of the material before I started the course, I always find something new to
learn.
I know that I’m the one closest to the student so a lot depends
on me. I’ve been applying a lot of these techniques in my classroom already and
I can testify that they really work.
Even though I do have a support I wouldn’t mind having more
of it. Support is like money- you can never have too much of it.

I just finished the ED104. What an experience this was for me as a professor in accounting! I was ready to submit my Class Prospectus to administration I changed the entire Prospectus for the class. I used the font change, boxing and due dates highlights for the students. When I opened the class I used humor, facts of the class and also showed them the final exam so they knew what the expectations were for the class.
It was a joy taking this course and making changes or adjustments to boost the teaching habits that I was doing! I was surpriesed how excited these students wee when they left the class on the first day. Naturally I was tired but the students were energetic for next weeks material and to come back to class for the learning process of the material.
I did say to them you can leave this room and hate Accounting and you can leave this classroom and love it, but remember this I am here to educate you on the subject because you need the course for your career. Whether you are going to be an Acountant, enterpernuer or use this in your personal life this course will be needed and used by all of you.
Remember if you own assets or have many liabilites this class will assist you in the process.
Great Educational course ED104!
I have learned a great deal through this course. I am new to the teaching sector, but have been in my field of expertise for quite a while. It was interesting to me to learn the mistakes new instructors can make. I feel as if I could have easily fallen into 1 or 2 of them myself. I learned that I must take a step back and assess myself to assure that I am assessing the students in the best possible way.
Fortunately for me, I am working in an institution that has been very supportive. Other faculty members have taken me under their wings and are guiding me along. I feel with their help, and other online courses, that I will gain further advice and knowledge pertinent to teaching.
I've re-committed to my extensive introductions as the glue that bonds us as a group. Thanks!
Perhaps the most important I've learned from sharing in the threaded discussions and "Loung" posts is that we all share a great deal in the way we identify and meet challenges ! This is both motivating and comforting.
This course was a very good reminder that assessment is the center of the educational mission. Assessment requires a complex relationship among students, teacher, course material, and course requirements. We are constantly assessing throughout the course from day one. Students are assessing us, too!
I found the sectiion on student learning styles to be a wonderful reminder of the complexity of student learning. If we can key in on the preferred ways of learning of our students we will be much more likely to gain access into their best ways of learning. We can learn about their learning styles sometimes by talking with them and learning more about who they are in addition to conducting learning preference questionnaires.
Thanks for a great course.
I learned the value of being flexible and open to new techniques of assessing students. By varying different methods of assessment we can better find out how and what students are learning.
I can continue to apply the Socratic method, emphasizing the "Why?" question to encourage students to examine their assumptions.
The support I need involves student activities. I need students to engage. This is something that all teachers need.
I found 104 to be stimulating and engaging because it focuses on students and the intricacies of the classroom setting.
I learned that there are many ways to deal with difficult situations and that the best way is to be cool and reasonable. Often we get caught up in the heat of the moment, but it is best to not be too emotionally involved when a crisis occurs.
I can apply the learning I experienced in this course by looking more carefully at my responses to students at every level of instruction--both in and out of class. Learning is always going on, so I need to be more aware of how I come across as a professional.
I have always had support from fellow faculty members and administrators at my institution. Having brief meetings with other faculty members across the curriculum offers an ideal way to learn more about classroom management issues.
What have I learned?I just completed ED 104 and ED 105,I cannot tell you how much I have learned! the typical class each day and then the well prepared class,I actually am preparing my self for the next start in Jan 2012,I have so much to give and in a better way,i just cant wait.
Live to learn!
how can I apply?
the two courses have really energized me and how I am going to apply all what I have learned is that I will apply different ways to a boring or dry subject , I have visual learners in my class and have to accomadate diff ways to get thier attention, color charts, graphs, the classroom setting, all I learned in these 2 courses have given me very good ideas.
what support I may need?
I will need support from my school administartion specially with class seating, desks, chairs etc.
I have just finished taking ED104; I found the course to be a good refresher. After being in the classroom for over 10 years it helps to fine tune our craft!
This was a great course. Especially the forum on classroom presence. Thank you!
103 was a reapeat of many courses i have taken, however it is alsways good to reinforcve learning.
