This section helped clarify some of the characteristics I had noticed in colleagues of different ages but wasn't sure if they were a pattern.
I've had colleagues of all ages and also been a manager of people both much older and much younger than I am. It's important to learn how each group likes working and being managed so I can help them make an impact.
I learned information on each generation and communication style. I plan to apply it to my day to day interactions and be self aware of who I'm talking to so that what we can have common ground and connect.
Each generation brings unique perspectives, values, and ways of thinking shaped by the world they grew up in. Understanding these differences is not about division. it is about connection.
Understanding the diversity of generations is beneficial as it enhances our interactions with students across all age groups.
Understand the different values and characteristics can help with communication and understanding prospective students. It is important to keep in mind that everyone views things through a different lens.
Understanding each generation and adapting to how they communicate and receive information is vitally important to achieving goals.
It has given me an understanding of not only my generational thoughts and values, but the other three generations as well. This is beneficial in helping to understand other generations when it comes to working as a team and communicating.
In order to make generational diversity work, it is important to understand what motivates members of each generation and incorporate techniques that are flexible enough to meet their needs.
All generations are different and you can't talk/work with them all the same way. Most of the clients we are working with are Gen Z and we need to ensure that they understand what we can do for them on a global perspective.
As an educator, it's important to know that every generation is different and learn how to communicate with each generation effectively.
Helps to understand the different communication styles and how to be respectful to your audience’s preferences.
Understanding the differences between generations can help us communicate with all ages better. It is important that we learn to ask meaningful questions to help students feel valued.
It is highly beneficial to be aware of generational differences, adapt and learn - it will make one more successful and the communication will only improve.
This helps in not only speaking to prospective students, but also my colleagues. From my own assessment, I also learned that the Generation someone falls in based on values/work ethic, might not necessarily be their birth year generation.
I learned that generations are not necessarily determined by birth year and that people may fall into multiple buckets.
