What have I learned?
I've learned and now understand the meaning of instruction, training, learning & education. I must say that this was a very interesting topic with an lot of useful and helpful information. I had never thought about the four in this way but after studying the course materials, it all makes sense. The fact that training is developing a person in a specific area and intructions will allow the students to take that developed skill and apply it in an area above what was taught during training. Whereas we learn how to read and then we apply our our reading skills to learning in order to gain knowledge and to become educated; which is a life-long process.
How can I supply it?
I can apply these techniques in my life as I continue to develop as an effective instructor; as well as in the approach taken in the classroom.
What support do I need?
None, except me adapting to the method.
I have learned that there are many ways to tests students and since in my profession (Nursing) you must aquire the knowledge both in knowledge and application
What have I learned?
This course was more of a memory jolt to the course I took years ago to obtain my degree in teaching. It has been a pleasant refresher.
Of course I believe teaching is a team approach. The more usual info and can have on a studetn the better equiped I am to help them be successful.

What have you learned? Some new ideas like questions to take while out on a field trip.
-
How can you apply it? We took these questions to our clincial sites this week to encourage positive discussion and interaction amoung the students.

What support do you need? Nothing at this time....the forums will help list other ideas, if needed
I learned some very valuable information about moving about the classroom when teaching, keeping the class motivated and using group activities.
Hi,
I just completed my first 104 course and I found it has helped me immensely. I found through taking courses like this and other teacher boot camps that there is more to teaching than just being an expert in your field.
What have I learned? I learned a lot about Setting the stage for success as well as learning how to manage student behavior. I also found module 4 quite challenging as I had to admit that I made some of these mistakes.
How can I apply it? I need to understand and study the role of the syllabus more than I have and to pay attention to key elements so my students can be successful in the course. I also need to help my students understand the syllabus objectives and course requirements. This course also taught me how to deal with challenging students. I have had to deal with some of the personalities identified in course 104 and after reading about some of the strategies, I feel more confident in handling these behaviors in the future instead of feeling frustrated.
What support do I need? I am very thankful for the great support from my dean and directors when I need assistance with a project or exercise that I conduct with the class. Since I started teaching this past summer, the entire faculty have been fantastic in helping me navigate the school itself as well as some anxiety in the teaching profession. I am also hoping that through continued interaction in these forums and discussions, that I can gain advice and encouragment from others.
I just finished ed103. It is amazing that I have learnt so much from this course. I understand the different learning styles. I need to give tests more aligned with my instruction and ask clear questions when questioning students.
I can apply the Socratic method of learning through questioning. This form of inquiry and debate would certainly stimulate critical thinking and generate new ideas. The process is investigative and dialectic. I will use more case studies and simulations.
At the moment, I have all the support that I need.
I've been taking courses here for about a year now and find some as a refresher course and others very helpful to enhancing my teaching abilities.
What you have learned?
I completed ED104 and learned many teaching techniques. I learned from this course how to encourage and motivate the students. I hope to bring the new tools in my classroom and apply to my teaching.
How can you apply?
First, I plan to get to know my students and then go to their level. Next, I will pull them back to my level. As an instructor, I will find out what are the needs and wants of the students and then adjust my teaching techniques.
What support do you need?
I need 100% support from my college and colleagues and compare my teaching techniques with other and apply the best one in the class room.

I just completed the ED104 modules and it was a very organized and interactive review for me. I already hold a M.Ed. in Instructional Design and it brought me back to the basics which sometimes you forget as you forge ahead into other areas of curriculum development. I will apply the information into the training that I provide to develop my faculty further. Thank you to the developers of the courses that aid in the pursuit of teaching the teachers!
ED311 was very beneficial to me. I will be able to apply a number of activities in the courses I teach in the future.
I've just completed ed101. I leaned that keeping my student attention help them learn better with different teaching style. Not all my student learn the same way.
I have just completed course 103 and have learned more skills in creating written exams. Such as matching are more simple questions and should have more answers than needed. True False questions should have more false than true about 15% more. Watch my grammer and make sure negative answers are kept to a minimum and underline NOT or WRONG or have them in capitol letters. These courses are good refreshers as we sometimes need to be reminded to keep our skills strong.
I have completed ED106 and found it very helpful when dealing with Learning challenged students, It has given a different approach to the issue --I partially liked the idea to put students in groups and to use the 'Floating" technique to monitor the whole room. I now use the body language and eye contact to help me read the students understanding of the topic and/or task assigned to them. I also learned to use the "PAUSE” in a Positive way instead of just using it to get troublesome students attention. I found these courses 101-106 VERY helpful to my everyday teaching! Looking forward to learning more of these type of techniques so that I may become a better and more attentive instructor
EL102 had very good topics and points of discussion. I liked the presentation of material and felt there were many great take-aways to incorporate into my online instruction. It gives a full picture view of online education and the online student perspective. At the present time, I feel good about the material and do not feel the need for further support. Thank you for the great learning opportunity.
This program has got to be one of the better online programs, I've seen. I've implemented some of the techniques. I really enjoy it.
Just completed ED 105: I enjoyed this program because it gave insight to the grading/assessment part of instructing. I was reminded of how to be fair. It had good points about using other ways to assess a student, provide opportunity to obtain extra credit and encourage their participation. I like the presentation from the speakers as well. I really liked the way this program was presented.
I think that the course had some valuable information and I look forward to trying to implement many of the strategies for classroom management and additional courses I have yet to take. My biggest concern right now is devoting the time needed to do so. I believe that a more senior teacher could help this process, but I'm not sure that I have access to one. Is that something offered through this site?
Hi Sarah! I appreciated your inquiry about having a senior teacher as a mentor. The Lounge itself, through the many groups, blogs and discusison comments, is privy to best practices and lessons learned from faculty at all levels. I wanted to say additionally that the online course you completed is part of the Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) Faculty Development Program of which many institutions are subscribed. The program encourages the opportunity for faculty to apply concepts and applications from the courses to the classroom or lab. You might wish to consult with your campus's Dean or Director of Education who, familiar with the program, might suggest the opportunity for an on-campus mentor. Also, you can continue to access the online course you completed and interact with the facilitator and other participants in a post-course environment through the Performance Forums. Best wishes for your continued and successful teaching journey!
In ED102, I learned how to apply retention methods so the students so they could retain what they learned. If we show values and respect the students and manage them individually then the retention can be successful. More than a syllabus or course content it is necessary to know that why are they here and what they want. I can apply this experience to my current online courses that I am teaching and I am sure that can work more towards the retention methods in the students.
